STAR Hat and Mitten Drive

Warm Your Hearts by Keeping Others’ Hands and Heads Warm

Once again the STAR group is sponsoring a hat and mitten drive. All the Fort elementary schools are welcoming mittens and gloves to share with their students. Waterproof mittens are preferred by the kids. Some of the schools also want winter hats, and those can be handmade or purchased (scarves are considered a choking hazard, so they are not requested). Ear muffs and wide head bands are also OK.

All donations of hats, mittens and gloves will be shared. If they don’t seem to meet the schools requirements or children’s size, we will give then to the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry for distribution.

The donation boxes will be out beginning Oct. 31, and the drive will conclude at the Thanksgiving Service on Nov. 23.

Thank you for helping to keep our community warm through the winter.

Call Committee Update

The call committee is plugging away and moving forward on our journey to find a new associate pastor to join our congregation and partner with the campus ministry program at UW-Whitewater. We have met with Marie Leafblad, the assistant to the Bishop and have completed the next steps that she encouraged us to do. We are now waiting for the next step in this process. We ask that you keep us in your prayers as well as the person we know God has planned for us. Stay tuned for more updates!

Blessings,
Your Call Committee

Sunday Morning Bible Study

Hunger Catechism – Sept. 19-Oct. 24
Join Pastor Amy between services on Sundays in a Bible study looking at the catechism. See the description from the ELCA below for more info:

“The Hunger Catechisms are intended to encourage understanding of the Small and Large Catechisms as they relate to our faith, our personal life and our public life.

Each lesson begins with Martin Luther’s interpretations in both the Small and Large Catechisms and discusses their spiritual implications and social applications. At the end of each lesson is an example of how the ELCA is working alongside neighbors within the U.S. and around the world through the ministry of ELCA World Hunger.”
