STAR Hat and Mitten Drive
Warm Your Hearts by Keeping Others’ Hands and Heads Warm
Once again the STAR group is sponsoring a hat and mitten drive. All the Fort elementary schools are welcoming mittens and gloves to share with their students. Waterproof mittens are preferred by the kids. Some of the schools also want winter hats, and those can be handmade or purchased (scarves are considered a choking hazard, so they are not requested). Ear muffs and wide head bands are also OK.
All donations of hats, mittens and gloves will be shared. If they don’t seem to meet the schools requirements or children’s size, we will give then to the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry for distribution.
The donation boxes will be out beginning Oct. 31, and the drive will conclude at the Thanksgiving Service on Nov. 23.
Thank you for helping to keep our community warm through the winter.
We meet once a month to Serve Trinity Area Residents. Sign up or watch the Tidings for our meeting info or call/talk to Sharon Armstrong or Kay Falk.
We especially need help repairing or replacing the Chrismons for the church Christmas Tree.
Desserts Needed: Contact the office if you can make individually wrapped cookies/bars.
Saturday, Nov. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Devil’s Lake State Park south of Baraboo. Park at North Shore (see map). Pack a picnic lunch or we can organize to grill and picnic there as we get closer to this date and know how many people will be participating. We’ll hike about 5 miles around Devil’s Lake. Hope to see you there! Any questions, please contact Aurelio at firstname.lastname@example.org or 262-490-4923.
Little Free Pantry
There is an opening for stocking the Little Pantry on Mondays. If anyone would like to help out every Monday, the 1st and 3rd or the 2nd and 4th, please contact: Becky Tuttle (email@example.com) or Polly Schull (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Call Committee Update
The call committee is plugging away and moving forward on our journey to find a new associate pastor to join our congregation and partner with the campus ministry program at UW-Whitewater. We have met with Marie Leafblad, the assistant to the Bishop and have completed the next steps that she encouraged us to do. We are now waiting for the next step in this process. We ask that you keep us in your prayers as well as the person we know God has planned for us. Stay tuned for more updates!
Your Call Committee
Reaching Out Respite
Volunteers needed! Training provided. Call Maise at (920) 723-7288 if interested. Respite meets on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (a.m./p.m. shifts available).
On Oct. 17 during the Sunday school hour, Pastor Amy will be offering acolyte training to 5th & 6th graders. If you haven’t yet had acolyte training, or if a pandemic meant you haven’t had the chance to acolyte, please meet with Pastor Amy in the sanctuary at 9:30 a.m.
If you have previously received offering envelopes but would no longer like to receive them, or if you do not currently receive offering envelopes but would like to, please let the church office know by Oct. 31.
If you have moved in the last 6 months, please let the church know of your new address so that our records can be updated.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
Hunger Catechism – Sept. 19-Oct. 24
Join Pastor Amy between services on Sundays in a Bible study looking at the catechism. See the description from the ELCA below for more info:
“The Hunger Catechisms are intended to encourage understanding of the Small and Large Catechisms as they relate to our faith, our personal life and our public life.
Each lesson begins with Martin Luther’s interpretations in both the Small and Large Catechisms and discusses their spiritual implications and social applications. At the end of each lesson is an example of how the ELCA is working alongside neighbors within the U.S. and around the world through the ministry of ELCA World Hunger.”
