Impromptu Coffee Meet and Greet!

A Message from The Homeless Coalition of Fort Atkinson

The Homeless Coalition of Fort Atkinson is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides transitional housing and emergency assistance to families and individuals in need in the Fort Atkinson area. The Homeless Coalition of Fort Atkinson was started in 2019 after the tragic death of Keith Lueloff in one of the city’s parks. A group of concerned citizens from churches, organizations and businesses in the city gathered to discuss options to begin to coordinate support.

We are happy to say that we have partnered with Fort HealthCare and have obtained two transitional houses for families in our community. We were also able to obtain some rental rooms through Cloute Inc./ Rocket Realty.

Now, after 2 ½ years of working toward our vision, we are excited to inform you that we have placed two families into the transitional houses and two individuals into the rental rooms! In 2022 we anticipate serving 60 or more individuals or families in need.

In November 2021, we started our Capital Campaign to raise money to purchase land and move the houses obtained from Fort HealthCare later this summer. We have had a great initial response from the community and we are confident that we will be able to reach the $50,000 goal we need to meet to obtain the $100,000 grant from the Fort Atkinson Foundation.

What we need at this time is funding for our operating expenses to keep our mission moving forward. Donations have been down the past few months and our monthly expenses have increased with the transitional houses we have placed families and individuals into. Our regular operating expenses cover emergency housing, transitional housing expenses, vouchers for taxi cabs, gas cards, employee fees and administrative costs. With fewer dollars, there are less services to offer.

We thank you for your support and consideration of this cause.

If an event is cancelled, please also spread the word to those who may not hear otherwise.

ELCA Youth Gathering Cancelled

After much prayer, conversation and tears, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2022 ELCA Youth Gathering, MYLE and the tAble due to the ongoing pandemic, the recent COVID-19 surge and safety considerations.

We know there are thousands of young people who will not get to experience the Gathering, and our hearts break for them. This was not an easy decision, and we ask for your prayers and your grace. We understand the impact this decision will have on our youth, volunteers and planning teams, and we hope to return to Minneapolis for a future Gathering.
