During the season of Lent, five local congregations worshiped together on Wednesday’s at noon. This year Trinity Lutheran was the host congregation and members from St Peter’s Episcopal, Grace United, First United Methodist, and First Congregational UCC all gathered for worship and luncheon.
A free will offering was given by worshipers to go toward any outstanding balance on lunch accounts in the district. Tom Dembski, manager of the school’s Student Nutrition Program, expressed thanks for the generous gift of $1,000. He said that 50% of Fort Atkinson’s elementary school students receive free and reduced lunch but “not everyone qualifies” and some families get “stuck in the gap” where a little help would make a big difference. The Fort Atkinson School District does not turn children away if they cannot pay for meals. The clergy group, who were responsible for identifying a project to support, felt confident that the generosity of members would help students, families, and the school district.
The Fort Atkinson Clergy Group wishes to thank all those who donated faithfully to this project. Together we can make a difference in our community!
