A Message from Pastor Amy

Pastor Amy Waelchli
Pastor Amy Waelchli

Starting in May, we will return to singing in worship with masks. Our musicians are fully vaccinated now, as am I, which helps us move forward. I’m cautiously excited about this. Because singing propels particles further than speaking, we’ll wear masks. It’ll be different, but it’ll be singing.

And, we’ve already done so many different things. Hard things. Are we even keeping track anymore?! What amazes me is that you are relatively unfazed by it. You’ve faithfully attended Trinity during a pandemic online, in person, and via drive-thru communion. You’ve generously given to Trinity, the Food Pantry, Lutheran World Relief school kits and local kids with STAR’s hat and mitten drive. You’ve volunteered to sing online, to give the blessing for online worship, to call other members to connect, to pray for each other. You’ve remained Trinity Lutheran Church because you know that Christ is the center of our being together and that by His call we will remain united for the sake of His Good News.

As we slowly but surely return to aspects of our life together that we’ve missed, it will be up to each person to choose for themselves what they’re comfortable with. It will also be our mutual responsibility to respect each decision, to welcome one another in whatever form they’re comfortable gathering, and to keep our faithful connection with one another.

No matter where you worship — from home or from the sanctuary — I’m glad you’re worshiping with us. Please worship in the way you are most comfortable. If it’s been a while since you’ve worshiped, this is a great time to tune in. We’re including communion in our online worship and children’s sermons in person.

I’m thankful for you and I’m excited to sing with you again.

Call Committee

The Trinity Call Committee met for orientation with the Bishop on 4/13. Please pray for the Call Committee members as they carefully craft a new position at Trinity. You’ll be hearing from them! They are: Rich Vurva, Chair; Tammy Hedrick, Secretary; Lorrie Godfrey; Anders Clarksen; Maggie Messler; and Chuck Frandsen.

All Welcome to Serve

As Trinity cautiously moves toward resuming more normal operations, we are in need of volunteers willing to serve as ushers for on Thursdays and Sundays for in-person services. The congregation will continue to wear masks at all services. If you are interested in serving, please contact the office.

Piano Update

We’re blessed to have a new (to us!) baby grand piano in the sanctuary! It is beautiful! Thank you to Bob LaMuro who facilitated the purchase and Mark Nordeen who, along with Bob, vetted the instrument. The piano needs turning before it can be played. In fact, it will need to be tuned twice because it’s gone without for a number of years. We’re on the list with our piano tuner and she’ll get the first one done soon. We will let you know when you can hear it at worship.

Thursday Drive-Thru Communion

Thursday drive-thru communion is coming to an end on April 29. Thanks to everyone who came by on Thursday evenings and to Sheryl McCarthy for faithfully helping me every week. (Sunday drive-thru communion will continue.

Worship Update

We will resume singing in church for the first time in over a year starting Sunday, May 2. All attendees should continue to wear MASKS. Bring your voices and enjoy the beauty of voices joined together praising the Lord.

Hiking/Fellowship Event

The Horicon Marsh hike and picnic lunch will be held this Saturday, April 17. Participants leave Whitewater/Fort Atkinson at 9:00 AM to begin the Redhead Hiking Trail hike at 10:30. Afterwards participants may also hike the Red Fox Trail, Egret Trail and boardwalk or just find a lovely place to sit and enjoy the view and wildlife. It will be a great day of fellowship outdoors and we’ll still be home for dinner! There is parking at the trailhead on Hwy 49, just east of Waupun. We look forward to seeing you.
