Dear Trinity,

What an extraordinary time we find ourselves in. As Christians who’ve taken Jesus’ Great Commission seriously, we’re accustomed to “go, therefore, and make disciples.” However, Jesus’ Great Commandment is always our primary anchor, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” In this time, our love for our neighbors is expressed by staying home. By staying home, we show love for our doctors, nurses, and everyone involved in the ministry of healing. By staying home, we show love for our elders, children, and everyone in between.
This is not without difficulty. Our emotions are tied up in the challenge of isolating ourselves. We worry about others, get lonely, and have deep concern for local businesses and employees. As Christians, particularly as Lutherans, we know the importance of both/and statements. Luther said that we are both saint and sinner, for example. I believe we can achieve both physical health and economic wellness if we abide by the rules in place right now. As we’ve seen firsthand in the last few days, problems arise when workers don’t have sick leave. The economic and health consequences of this are profound for both the individual and the business. At Trinity, we have both business owners and workers navigating this spectrum.
Local business owners wrestle everyday with wanting to keep their employees working so those individuals will have an income. Business owners I’ve spoken with know how much that is needed! Employees invest their time and energy into their work and want the business to be there when things get back to normal. As Christians, we can see that there aren’t two groups here (business/employee), but rather one group: community.
Please, pray for business leaders who are making difficult decisions. Please pray for employees who are doing their best and want to work. Please remain at home so that we can recover together as quickly as possible.
Please pray for Trinity Lutheran Church. We will not be gathering for in person worship until the safer at home order and the group meeting size is lifted. The Governor’s order is in effect until 4/24. We will announce our in person worship plans when we know more. I don’t know when this will be, but I do know that when we get back together we will celebrate Easter!
For now, please join us on our YouTube Channel (Trinity Fort) or on cable channel 987 at 9 am/9 pm daily. To connect to our YouTube channel visit Trinityfort.org. In the upper right-hand corner of the main page is a YouTube icon. Just click on it and you’ll go right to the channel. The same is true for the Facebook icon located there. You don’t have to belong to Facebook to see what’s posted there.
With the peace of Christ,
Pastor Amy
Join the Pastor Amy & her family in the Heart Project!
Homes everywhere are pasting hearts into their windows to show love for people out for walks. We’re going to do a heart project too! In the Waelchli House, we’re making a heart garland and adding one heart everyday until we meet again for worship. We’ll combine them at worship. Are you in?
You’ll Need: Paper (cardstock works best but anything will do), Scissors, Stapler or Tape
Step One: Cut two strips of paper equal in size.
Step 2: Staple two ends together.
Step Three: Separate the ends and bring them together in the other direction. Staple.

Sunday school/Christian Education
Trinity’s Sunday school will be trying Rotational Sunday school next season. We will still be using Spark curriculum and Spark Bibles, just in a slightly different way. I would like to invite you to consider being a part of Sunday school next year.
I will be looking for volunteers to take turns leading our focus Workshop areas. Workshops could include: Art, Creative Drama, Science, Music, Bible Skills and Games. As an example; if you volunteered to lead the Art area, you would lead the same project for 4 weeks in a row, each week with a different group of children. The materials needed would be gathered for you by the planning team. This process would be similar for all Workshop areas. Each 4- week unit of study may have a different combination of Workshop areas.
I will also be looking for “shepherds” who will meet their students each
Sunday and guide them to their Workshop area. Shepherds will be with the students during our Opening Session in the Sanctuary, will take attendance and offerings. Shepherds will help with managing children when they are moving to Workshop areas, and stay with them during the Workshop.
Shepherds will not have to do any planning.
This is exciting! I hope you can see yourself fitting in somewhere. Volunteers for Workshop areas will be asked to sign up for several 4- week units. My hope is that some shepherd volunteers will be able to make a longer commitment, so that our students will be able to make meaningful connections with our volunteer staff.
Watch for more detailed information coming at a later time. Thanks!
